You are already in the preparations for the Wachau Bike Days and now looking for varied routes for your training or just a leisurely ride? Here we have 3 recommendations for varied bike routes in the Wachau for you!
#1 High altitude tour 11 - Mühldorf route
Weissenkirchen is where this beautiful circular tour begins and ends, where you can enjoy the panorama of the Weinviertel and Waldviertel. The route runs through Himberg, Mühldorf and Spitz and is sporty with a total of 500 meters in altitude and 30.7 km. But you will be rewarded with beautiful views and an idyllic downhill ride.
#2 Round trip Krems - Weinzierl am Walde - Weißenkirchen - Dürnstein
The 33 km long round trip leads from Krems via Weinzierl am Walde to the wine-growing villages of Weißenkirchen and Dürnstein and back again. Here you cycle through wooded areas, over idyllic vineyards and enjoy great views of the Danube. On this moderately difficult tour you will cover a total of 664 meters in altitude.
#3 High altitude tour on the Jauerling
If you are taking part in the Krone Champions Cycling Marathon or would like to work on your personal mountain ranking, you can put a section of the Krone Champions Cycling Marathon on your training schedule: the high-altitude tour up the Jauerling. Because every year, by means of a separate Jauerling classification, the mountain queen and the mountain king are crowned. The starting and finishing point for a short and crisp round tour is in Elsarn on the Jauerling. This tour requires a fair amount of calf strength and endurance. However, as soon as the 754 meters in altitude have been covered, you will be rewarded with a view of the Vienna Alps and the Ötscher.
